š ALWAYS ANOTHER GAME

AAG was born over a decade ago yet the funny thing is I never knew it until recently. It was a term I used to bring myself back down after a poor performance or loss in Ice Hockey to help remind me that there is another game. I canāt dwell on the past I need to focus on the NOW and how that will help the FUTURE. Yet after retiring from the sport I loved, a lot of what made me mentally successful went out the window until one famous night.Ā Ā I was highly stressed on this infamous day and my parenting tolerance had reached itās peak, so without shouting I sent the boys to bed early before it had the chance to reach that point. Only to come downstairs full of guilt and shame that I was not at my best and this is not what I wanted to be as a parent. Then it hit me... We get to go again tomorrow How can I be better for myself and my loved ones because thatās how I used to do things in my sporting career I would look for solutions not excuses and that is when it hit me that all the skills I learned playing sport can be used now in; š§ Parenting š§ Business š§ Self Improvement And now I get the pleasure of not only sharing my story via this personal development podcast but other incredible current and retired athletes, where they get to share the highs and lows of sport and most importantly how they use those learned skills in life away from the game Because unfortunately in my sport we have lost a number of incredible people who have lost their identity after playing and I wanted to remind you that you played a sport you donāt have to be the sport which can help you thrive in whatever you desire in life away from the gameĀ I am certain there is an episode for you Here in this personal development podcast is where you will delve deep inside the mind of an athlete so they can share the highs and lows of sport but most importantly how they utilise those skills to thrive in life away from the game. Our guests will be sharing insights from their sporting careers and where they are today because of them. This will help you see the skills youāve gained over your life and where you can use them to be successful today You can always level up! Tuesday Oct 22, 2024
Tuesday Oct 22, 2024
When you think about it we are all athletes
every day we wake up we aim to perform
whether that is at home
at work
or with our health
Our aim is to be at our best
and today's guest Greg Fearon teaches this with his clients while working as a Nutrition and Mindset Coach
Being a late bloomer in sport due to his weight struggles, Greg found he had an incredible talent for Sprinting and Football
Ā
which finally led him down the path of Kung Fu after being inspired by Jackie Chan
Ā
Today Greg helps his mainly female client base overcome the same challenges he had in life by inspiring them by helping them learn that how you do something is how you do everything
Ā
are you ready?
Ā
Because everyone was Kung Fu Fighting
but now they're tuning into this episode instead

Shaun Short - What if the cards are stacked against you?
Tuesday Oct 15, 2024
Tuesday Oct 15, 2024
What if the cards are stacked against you?
Ā
because life is challenging
and more often than not the odds are against usĀ
So when it does get tough how do you manage those tricky times?
Ā
Back when I played there would be times that I would thrive against adveristy
and other times when I would find it difficult
Ā
the biggest difference in these scenarios was that internal beliefĀ
Ā
Which is something I have dug deep on since i've finished playingĀ
Ā
come and join me today as I share a story from a memorable game later on in my career
Ā
and lets take you internally to help you thrive when the cards are stacked against you

Inside the mind of the one that goes inside the athleteās mind

Inside the mind of the one that goes inside the athleteās mind
Ā
I used to think sports psychology was woowoo
Ā
I tried it once for a minute and wrote it off
Ā
Yet there is a reason why many professional sports now have their own highly skilled staff looking after their players mental well being
Ā
Because without it then you will never see a peak physical performance
Ā
And on todayās episode of Always Another Game Podcast I have the pleasure of talking to Manchester Storm Ice Hockey Clubās Well Being Consultant Liz Stewart
Ā
I broke a few of my own rules here today because Liz didnāt grow up with a sporting story
Ā
Yet she is involved in one of my core values of this podcast and that is supporting and looking after the well being on not just Ice Hockey Players but athletes
Ā
We discuss today the importance of the players having someone they trust they can talk to
Ā
And how priceless it is for a coach and organisation to have a person involved in your team getting the best out of your players
Ā
If you have every been interested in how your mental performance hugely affects your physical
Ā
Then youāre going to want to glide on over to hear what Liz has to say

Shaun Short - Who is in your corner?
Tuesday Sep 24, 2024
Tuesday Sep 24, 2024
Who is in your corner?
Ā
Do you know?
Ā
You know those people that would go to war for you and expect nothing in return
Ā
And their belief in you drives you forward into things you once though was impossible
Ā
Because on todayās Shaun Short episode we discuss the influence that certain people have in our lives
Ā
As many times an athlete has mentioned a Coach or Sensi that has made an incredible impact on their career and life
Ā
And I felt it would be great to dig a little deeper into this topic
Ā
Because sometimes you may not even know you had someone until you lost them
Ā
Donāt panic Iām not going to take up too much of your time with the Shaun Short episodes so you can fit one in today
Ā
I canāt wait to see you over there

Ice Hockey: The comeback is always stronger than the setback
Tuesday Sep 24, 2024
Tuesday Sep 24, 2024
Ā
āInjuries have shaped how I approach my career todayā
Ā
These are the exact words of England Hockey Strength and Conditioning Coach and former Professional Ice Hockey player Rupert Quiney
Ā
From being inspired by his dad to play
Ā
Rupert has to over come all odds to make it pro
Ā
Growing up around a club that at the time was not playing at the highest level would seem too far fetched for a young athlete to stand out
Ā
Yet this didnāt deter Rupert
Ā
But due to a series of serious injuries he was forced to re think about what direction his career was going in
Ā
And now he gets to help young athletes avoid going through the pain and struggle he did
Ā
Which you can feel the passion he has for doing this in the episode today
Ā
Lets glide on over with me to listen to this one

šAlways Another Game
Hi, i'm Shaun the host of the 'Always Another Game' Podcast
My journey from professional Ice Hockey player to self titled Behaviour Change Coach has been an interesting one
And it wasn't until recently that I accidentally fell upon the power sport has long after the game has finished
You see with anything in life you learn a skill and those skills are transferable into different topicsĀ
So I wanted to round up some troops and get other athletes to share their stories of what has made them so successful in life away from the gameĀ
Players from sports such as;
š Ice Hockey
š„ Boxing
š„ Martial Arts
šø Badminton
š“ Equestrian Vaulting
š¤øš»āāļøGymnastics
And many more
Who are all ready to share how sport has giving them life outside of the game
So why don't you pull up a seat and come and join us as we reflect on the highs and lows of sport
And learn how you can turn those lessons into your long term success
I'll see you over thereĀ
Shaun šš§
